Candidate Profile and Focus:

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and detail-oriented PR professional with 1–2 years of experience or relevant internships supporting earned media or communications efforts. They are eager to learn, highly organized, and comfortable assisting with press materials, media lists, coverage tracking, and coordination with PR agencies. This candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is excited to support events, campaigns, and storytelling initiatives that elevate Museum of Illusions' brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the PR Manager to support drafting, editing, and distributing press releases, media alerts, pitches, and other earned media materials.
  • Working with PR Agencies to maintain and update media lists covering lifestyle, travel, tourism, entertainment, education and local outlets.
  • Ensure all PR materials (press kits, fact sheets, bios, imagery, B-roll) remain updated and accessible.
  • Coordinate press visits, on-site hosting, and follow-up communication.
  • Support PR Manager in efforts tied to opening events, campaigns, seasonal activations, and brand milestones.
  • Serve as day-to-day liaison for PR agencies across assigned markets, ensuring alignment with brand priorities and timelines.
  • Maintain a deliverables tracker for each MOI location, including media hits, campaign timelines, and asset needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for budgets, retainers, and event/project-based expenses including processing of invoices and related paperwork with finance.
  • Compile and collaborate with PR agencies to track earned media coverage and maintain a centralized, real-time coverage log to build PR reporting recaps for monthly and quarterly leadership insights.
  • Collaborate cross functionating with Marketing, Social Media, and Museum Operations to develop event recaps and trackers for leadership review and event evaluation optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • 1–2 years of experience or 2–4 years in lieu of a degree of relevant public relations, communications, or marketing experience relations, communications, marketing, or a relevant internship (agency or in-house experience a plus)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience assisting in drafting press releases, pitches, or media materials
  • Familiarity with media monitoring, coverage tracking, and maintaining media lists
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners such as PR agencies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with PR tools or media databases is a plus
  • Interest in lifestyle, entertainment, tourism, or consumer brands preferred

Physical Requirements/Demands

  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard, use a laptop and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, and squat.
  • Must be able to properly express oneself, exchange information, communicate and converse with diverse cultures, races and sexes.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to use sight to detect, determine, perceive, observe, inspect, and assess situations.
