About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Lineman to support transmission, distribution, and substation construction projects throughout the state of Texas. This is a remote role with statewide field travel. The Journeyman Lineman will be responsible for safely constructing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage systems, including overhead lines, underground circuits, and substation equipment.

This position requires strong lineman-level skills, a proven safety record, and the ability to operate independently. Candidates who have an existing crew are highly preferred, but individual applicants will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and repair transmission and distribution powerlines.
  • Build and modify substation infrastructure, including bus work, foundations, grounding grids, and associated equipment.
  • Set, frame, and retire poles, crossarms, insulators, and conductor systems.
  • Install and replace transformers, switches, regulators, reclosers, and sectionalizers.
  • Perform energized and de-energized work on T&D infrastructure following OSHA and NESC standards.
  • Operate equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, tensioners, pullers, and cranes.
  • Read and interpret engineered drawings, staking sheets, and construction blueprints.
  • Complete documentation, job site reporting, material tracking, and tailboard meetings.
  • Train, mentor, and assist apprentices and groundsmen as required.
  • Travel within Texas to various project assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certified Journeyman Lineman (required).
  • 5+ years of experience working on transmission, distribution, and/or substation construction projects.
  • Valid Class A CDL (required).
  • Demonstrated experience with overhead and underground 4kV–500kV systems.
  • Strong understanding of energized work procedures and PPE practices.
  • Ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in variable weather.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing lineman crew available to mobilize (preferred, not required).
  • Experience with utility contractor environments or EPC/CM firms.
  • Storm restoration and emergency response experience.
  • OSHA 10/30 or other applicable safety credentials.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Must reside in Texas and be willing to travel statewide.
  • Overtime, after-hours, weekend, and storm response opportunities may be required.
  • Physical work environment includes climbing, lifting, rigging, and heavy equipment operation.
