Job Purpose
The Director leads the school team to success in all FusionEd Career Prep School Success Indicators. First and foremost, he or she is a leader who manages the school team to recruit and retain a full student enrollment throughout the year. With full enrollment, the director provides a visionary leadership program designed to create an engaging learning environment where all students thrive academically, emotionally, and professionally. This role focuses on academic success, social emotional support, career education and placement services to ensure students earn their diplomas and transition into postsecondary education or the workforce.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Program Development
- In partnership with HR, hire, inspire and retain an outstanding school staff.
- Implement the strategic plan for dropout recovery and student re-engagement.
- Foster a culture of high expectations, resilience, and personalized support for students.
- Establish initiatives that promote student retention and academic success
- Lead a team of educators, career professionals, and support staff to create a flexible, student-centered learning environment.
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on student success.
FTE:
- Work collaboratively with the Enrollment and Marketing Team and Drive all efforts to meet and exceed budgeted FTE, this should include ongoing best practices for student enrollment and student retention.
Student Support & Retention:
- Develop individualized learning plans that integrate Fusion-ed systems, core academics with CTE and workforce readiness pathways to graduation.
- Implement Social Emotional learning programs.
- Monitor student progress and implement interventions to support academic achievement.
- Utilize flexible scheduling to accommodate diverse student needs.
Curriculum & Instruction:
- Oversee the implementation of the Fusion Ed assigned curriculum including Discovery and Industry Credentials for appropriate grade levels
- Support teachers in utilizing innovative instructional strategies when delivering curriculum.
- Understand and articulate graduation options for the State of Ohio
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Nurture a positive, respectful school culture based on growth mindset principles
- Build Partnerships with community organizations and- businesses, to provide wraparound services, and job opportunities or workplace learning opportunities.
- Engage parents, guardians and mentors whenever necessary for student success.
- Create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes belonging
Operational & Compliance Management
- Work with central staff to manage program budgets, resources and staffing.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collect and analyze data to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure the school grounds are clean and well-organized inside and out of the building. Work with the facilities department to ensure our schools are facilities that students and staff can be proud of.
Attendance Procedures:
- Ensure that attendance is captured correctly and timely in accordance with state and board regulations.
- Ensure that the sign in/sign out system is being followed
Enrollment Process:
- Identify and recruit students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out of school.
- Ensure a seamless enrollment process that is easy for students and parents to navigate at the school level. Work collaboratively with Enrollment and Marketing Director
- Check that cumulative files are consistent and in order with all necessary documents
- Coordinate with EMIS team
Communication & Collaboration
- Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills across all stakeholder groups
- Facilitate productive dialogue between students, parents, staff, and community partners
- Employ active listening strategies to understand diverse perspectives and needs
- Build consensus around school initiatives while navigating complex challenges
- Create transparent information-sharing systems that keep stakeholders informed and engaged
- Collaborate effectively with leadership, board members, and educational partners
- Foster an environment where staff feel empowered to contribute ideas and solutions
- Leverage collaborative relationships to expand opportunities for students
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Satisfactory completion of federal and state required criminal history checks
- At least 3 years of successful School Leadership Preferably Alternative Education or DOPR school Leadership
- State teaching license
- Experience with data analysis
- Demonstrated success in student recruitment and retention
Desirable experience and credentials:
- Community School, Charter School leadership
- Willing to pursue Ohio Principal licensure
- Social services case management
- Teaching experience and leadership
- High School Curriculum and Instruction Methods
- At least three years in a supervisory or business management role
- Proficient in computer applications, including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications

- Strong leadership and management skills; ability to lead staff and students effectively, communicating the mission of the school
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills: ability to inspire, galvanize, organize, direct and develop people.

- Understand state testing as well as state teaching standards
- Exhibit sound judgment while exhibiting flexibility regarding decision-making, daily challenges, and job duties
- Ability to manage and communicate with difficult or emotional students, staff, parents, board members, and community members
- Ability to work well under pressure, and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
- Strategic vision with practical implementation skills to create a thriving school community
Working Conditions
- On-call availability
- Limited travel, mostly within the state of Ohio
- All in-person professional development opportunities must be attended in person
- Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer and other technology related components
- Management and interaction with students, staff, parents, school board, sponsors, and community members
Requirements
- Committed to implementing Fusion Career Prep School mission and operational practices
- Principals must complete all training modules in the Principal Training Google Classroom
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Standing for extended periods of time, sitting occasionally
- Ability to move around the building
Pay: $80, $120,000.00 per year
