Job Description
Title: Child Nutrition Director
Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent
Minimum Qualifications:
A graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, a Master's degree, and suitable training in supervision
A minimum of 5 years-experience in food service management
Acquire a Child Nutrition Program Director's Professional Certificate from the State Department of Education
Skills and Abilities:
Coordinate and supervise the CNP to assure administration is in accordance with federal, state, local laws and procedures
Develop and maintain accurate financial budgets and other reports and be able to train other employees on all financial matters related to CNP
Develop and maintain accurate inventories of all supplies and equipment and be able to train other employees
Organize and improve all aspects of the Child Nutrition Program
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with CNP personnel
Essential Functions:
Supervises CNP operations in all local schools to assure that all meals are nutritionally adequate, safety and sanitation standards are met, and all records are properly maintained
Cooperates with school personnel, educational agencies, and reviewing committees in conducting evaluation and/or accreditation studies
Plans appropriate in-service and training for employees
Assists with the central office team in developing and improving school board policies related to CNP
Provides direction to CNP managers in planning, food preparation, service, and storage
Follows State Bid Law and Federal Procurement Procedures for all purchases
Provides all required specifications for all new purchases
Promotes public interest in and understanding of the Child Nutrition Program through informal talks, public addresses, news releases, board presentations, and other available avenues
Determines equitable formulas for the allocation and distributions of commodities
Engages in continuous professional training that enhances personal knowledge and self-improvement
Represents the school system, department, and all school personnel in a positive manner at all times
Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to perform all duties associated with position
Contributes and encourages a team effort and desire to serve the school system including other personnel, members of the community, parents, and students.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
