Job Summary
CNC Mill Operators are responsible for keeping the machines running, taking appropriate measurements, loading the machine with raw material, completing relevant paperwork, finishing the product, identifying problems, and seeking help with troubleshooting.
Essential Job Functions
- Follow instructions from the Supervisor, Lead, and CNC Programmer to execute machining operations accurately and efficiently.
- Complete daily maintenance checks and record findings in the daily maintenance log before operating assigned machines.
- Ensure all machined parts comply with company quality standards and specifications.
- Set up and operate 3-axis mills, 4–5-axis milling machines, lathes, and horizontal machining centers with proficiency.
- Support internal processes, including Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI), Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Good Manufacturing Principles (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Follow GDP/GMP standards; communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
- Read, interpret, and adhere to applicable drawings, blueprints, wire diagrams, manufacturing specifications, work instructions, and quality procedures.
- Sign and date work orders with part count prior to moving work orders to the next operation or production cell.
- Move completed work orders throughout the shift to ensure continuous production flow.
- Support On-Time Delivery (OTD) and Quality metric targets; actively seek opportunities to increase productivity and eliminate waste.
- Execute departmental work plans in accordance with company policies, procedures, regulations, and financial goals.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and third parties as necessary, including monitoring work progress and reporting key metrics.
- Maintain accurate company records, complete required forms and reports, and uphold documentation per regulatory and internal requirements.
- Demonstrate strong work ethics, integrity, and teamwork; foster a positive work environment and support interdepartmental collaboration.
- Demonstrate clear and effective verbal and written communication, including maintaining accurate job reports, timekeeping records, and related paperwork.
- Adhere to all environmental, safety, health, and operational procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Promote and maintain a safe and clean work area, rectifying hazards and ensuring proper lockout/tag-out procedures are followed.
- Represent the Company's mission, vision, core values, and cultural tenets through professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
- Maintain punctuality, meet attendance requirements, and work overtime as required by business needs.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Knowledge and Experience

- 0-3 Years (L1), 4-6 Years (L2), 7+ Years (L3) of experience in a related job role
- High School Diploma/GED and technical/associate degree.
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including an internship in a relevant trade.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience working in manufacturing with trade terminology and nomenclature.
- Track record in process improvement and lean manufacturing.
- Medical device manufacturing experience.
- A thorough understanding and a working knowledge of all job phases.
Physical/Mental Involvement & Environmental Factors
- While performing this job's duties, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, bend, crouch, crawl, and twist. Reach, push, and pull with hands and arms. Lift to 50 pounds. Talk and hear, both in person and by telephone.
- Employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information, and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions, and interact with staff, the public.
- 100% of work takes place inside an industrial office/warehouse environment. Employees work in proximity to moving machinery, mechanical parts, and vehicles and may have exposure to prolonged loud noise, including sirens, horns, and tooling. Employees may handle hazardous material or have exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, biological hazards, and airborne fumes. The noise level is usually mild to moderate 75% of the time.
