Mechanic II

Position Summary

The Mechanic II is a mid-level role responsible for performing inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and moderately complex repairs on heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, and other company vehicles. This position requires greater independence than Mechanic I and the ability to handle a wider range of repairs with minimal supervision. The Mechanic II also assists in training junior mechanics and ensuring that all work meets company, DOT, and OSHA standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing of vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and system inspections. *
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues. *
• Replace or repair defective parts such as brakes, clutches, hydraulic hoses, cylinders, bearings, and belts. *
• Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. *
• Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify problems and recommend solutions. *
• Perform minor welding, cutting, and fabrication when needed. *
• Assist in overhauls of major components such as engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems under guidance from senior mechanics. *
• Maintain detailed maintenance and repair records for all serviced equipment. *
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and work areas. *
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures and correct unsafe practices immediately. *

Provide guidance and support to Mechanic I personnel and assist in their development.
