About the Role

Athenix Fresno is looking for a Part-Time Surgical (Scrub) Technologist to addour high-performing surgical team. This role is essential in supporting a smooth, safe, and exceptional patient experience throughout the entire surgical journey. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in the OR, a commitment to patient comfort and safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and clinical staff.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a meticulous individual with a positive attitude and excellent patient care skills. Possess excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills necessary in providing the ultimate patient safety and patient experience. Under general direction, prepares operating room(s) prior to procedures by performing the duties and responsibilities listed below.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Be on time for your shift, ready to work and support clinical staff and patient needs.
  • Assist and prep operating room in accordance with Athenix clinical standards
  • Perform pre and post operative patient care procedures as necessary.
  • Regularly performs checks on surgical machines and equipment.
  • Assist OR Nurse with sterilization techniques and sterile supplies in preparation for each operative procedure
  • Maintains aseptic techniques at all times as dictated by standards; sterilization of instrumentation
  • Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of products; properly maintain surgery rooms, stocks surgical supplies as required.
  • Selects sterile instruments from autoclave and/or sterile containers, arranging appropriate instruments for specific procedures, and arranging required equipment.
  • Assists team members to place and position patient on table while assisting draping the patient.
  • Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves. Aids team to don gowns and gloves.
  • Maintains supply of fluids, such as saline and glucose for use during operation.
  • Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation.
  • Anticipates additional supplies needed during the procedure.
  • Keeps accurate records throughout the procedure.
  • Properly cares for specimens when applicable.
  • Puts dressings on patient following surgery.
  • Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation.
  • Cleans operating room.
  • Terminally sterilizes instruments accordingly to equipment manufacturers guidelines and CDC guidelines
  • Assists in prepping room for next patient.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, fully stocked and well-organized environment according to Standard Operating Procedures through consistent monitoring of the treatment areas.
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the facility's policies and procedures.
  • Develop ability to work without constant direct supervision understanding that you will circulating in and out of operating room while assistant medical personnel.
  • Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by patients ensuring complete patient satisfaction.
  • Acknowledge and greet patients that you come in contact with you in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Handle patient's questions and concerns professionally and courteously, or direct to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or patients in the facility that require attention to address an issue out of the scope of your practice.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality team oriented work environment.
  • Regularly attend, participate in, and support training provided in staff meetings for the facility.
  • Be flexible with your schedule and support the needs of the facility.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Certificate from college or technical school for Surgical Technologist
  • Attention to detail, organized, reliable and confident in the OR.
  • Ability to promote good public relations with patient, family members and caregivers.
  • Familiar with Athenix products and services, and able to accurately refer patients to the appropriate consultant or staff member.
