Policy Analyst

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Policy Analyst to research issues, evaluate policy options, and support the development of recommendations that guide organizational or government decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, critical thinking, writing, and working with data to shape effective policies and programs.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Analysis

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on policy issues, trends, and best practices.
• Analyze existing policies, legislation, programs, and stakeholder impacts.
• Interpret data to support evidence-based recommendations.

Policy Development

• Draft policy briefs, backgrounders, options papers, and recommendations.
• Support development or revision of policies, guidelines, and frameworks.
• Identify policy gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Stakeholder Consultation

• Assist with stakeholder engagement activities such as interviews, workshops, or surveys.
• Summarize stakeholder feedback and incorporate insights into policy work.
• Coordinate communication across internal and external partners.

Program Evaluation

• Support evaluations of programs or initiatives to determine effectiveness and efficiency.
• Develop performance measures and track outcomes.
• Help identify improvements based on evaluation findings.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare clear, concise reports, presentations, briefing notes, and research summaries.
• Assist with compiling data, creating dashboards, and organizing reference materials.
• Ensure accuracy and clarity in all policy materials.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with program teams, leadership, and subject matter experts to gather information.
• Support implementation of new policies, procedures, or recommendations.
• Help ensure alignment between policy work and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in policy analysis, research, program evaluation, or related fields.
• Strong communication skills, especially in writing clear and concise policy documents.
• Ability to interpret legislation, data, and research findings.
• Proficiency with Excel, research databases, and data visualization tools (an asset).
• Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
