Position Summary: Children's Aid runs an adventure programming at Wagon Road Camp, which involves high and low ropes and initiative challenges. Adventure programming occurs in fall, spring and summer. There are two components of programming: 1: programming involving school and adult groups that come to WRC for a single day or a few days of adventure. These generally occur in the fall and spring. 2: programming during the summer day camp for 250 campers who regularly go to the adventure ropes course. This occurs for 6 weeks in the summer from Monday through Fridays.
The Adventure Programming Coordinator is responsible for marketing, sales, staffing and delivering adventure programs based on the adventure model developed by Project Adventure (team building, group development, and ropes course challenges). The Adventure Programming Coordinator recruits and interviews candidates for the Adventure Facilitator Staff who work in adventure programs at Wagon Road Camp. The Adventure Programming Coordinator is supervised by the Camp Director.
Essential Duties:
- Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Develop a marketing plan for the Adventure Program with the Camp Director to increase sales to schools and other youth serving organizations.
- Take all sales calls/emails for booking programming.
- Recruit and interview candidates for facilitators to deliver Adventure Programming.
- Work with WRC Business Manager to send out contracts and invoices for the program.
- Schedule staff to work individual adventure programs.
- Collect and screen release forms at each adventure program.
- Plan and implement each adventure program.
- Manage the adventure supplies, set up and take down the ropes course for each program.
- Attend training for adventure programming, belay techniques, ropes course maintenance, and emergency procedures.
- Run the adventure program for the summer day camp for 6 weeks in the summer.
- Assist with the recruitment and hiring summer day camp staff as needed.
- Work 15-20 hours/week, more hours may be required to fulfill adventure program bookings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in organizing and managing programming
- Experience in marketing.
- Previous experience as a teacher or activity leader.
