Facilities Associate – Essential Support for Facility Operations
Location: Onsite (Frederick, MD)
Salary Range: DOE
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Day Shift (with potential for evening, weekend, or on-call support as needed)
Reports To: Facilities Manager / Assistant Facilities Manager

As a Facilities Associate, you provide essential day-to-day support to maintain the facility's infrastructure, equipment, and safety standards. You help ensure smooth operations across labs, production spaces, and office areas by assisting with routine maintenance, monitoring key systems, and responding to facility needs promptly.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily facility operations, including monitoring building conditions, equipment performance, and environmental controls.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as inspections, minor repairs, filter changes, and equipment checks under the guidance of senior facilities staff.
- Support the Facilities Manager in completing work orders, documenting activities in the CMMS system, and keeping records audit-ready.
- Assist in ensuring GMP compliance across facility spaces, helping maintain cleanliness, organization, and adherence to SOPs.
- Respond to facility-related requests from Operations, Quality, and other departments in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide support during contractor visits, service appointments, installations, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Help with warehouse, shipping/receiving, or utility tasks as needed (e.g., moving materials, setting up equipment, organizing storage areas).
- Assist with safety walkthroughs, facility inspections, and reporting any unsafe or out-of-compliance conditions.
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and emergency response protocols.
- Maintain communication with team members and escalate issues promptly when necessary.
Key Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in facilities, maintenance, warehouse, or manufacturing support role (biotech or GMP environment preferred).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform hands-on tasks such as light repairs, equipment checks, and facility upkeep.
- Understanding of safety practices, facility operations, and the importance of compliance in a regulated environment.
- Ability to follow SOPs, work instructions, and documentation procedures accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn new technical skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including standing, reaching, bending, or climbing ladders.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with GMP, cleanroom environments, or regulated manufacturing operations.
- Experience using CMMS systems, maintenance logs, or inventory tools.
- Exposure to HVAC, utilities, or building support systems (even at a basic level).
- Prior experience supporting cross-functional teams (Operations, QA, Lab, Warehouse, etc.).
- Certifications such as OSHA 10, basic electrical/mechanical coursework, or trade experience are a plus.
