Construction Site Specialist

Additional $5.76 - $15.18 per hour in benefits.

Summary

As a Construction Site Specialist, you'll study fundamentals of building design, site development, building layout operations, working with volunteers, site management, and practical residential construction practices. You'll be instructed in safe and proper use of hand tools, portable power tools, and stationary power equipment. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to apply framing, interior finishing, and exterior finishing techniques at actual job sites. Related blueprint reading, estimating, building science principles, and OSHA practices are part of the training. The Construction Specialist will be able to learn a variety of task in the Construction Carrer Field.

General Tasks

• Coordinate with construction manager and site supervisor on ongoing projects.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.
• Assists in coordination of material purchases, deliveries, tracking, and forecasting.
• Permit research.
• Working with the Construction Site Supervisor to lead teams and groups.
• Attending weekly BUILD Meetings.
• Identify patterns and recommend opportunities for improvement.

Build Site Operations

• Maintenance, proper control, storage, security, and organization of vehicles, trailers, and tools.
• Organizes tools and materials before and after workdays and completes general housekeeping, recycling, and storage throughout the day. Ensures that proper and sufficient materials and equipment are available for each day's work.
• Responsible for a clean and orderly jobsite appearance.
• Tracking of trailer supplies and tools.
• Maintain an inventory of all tools and equipment.

Policy and Procedures

• Understand and comply with build site procedures and safety guidelines
• Inform Construction Site Supervisor, Construction Manager, or Director of any safety or procedural concerns.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and independently, and 80 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to work independently, cooperatively, and under supervision.
• Duties require skills in areas of residential construction, process, reasoning, and mathematics.
• Effective communication skills.
• Prior hands-on experience in construction, renovating, lead safe work practices, and training.
• Must be able to climb ladders, use and demonstrate use of construction and power equipment.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with Windows, Office, and MS Project.
• Valid Driver's License, ability to drive affiliate vehicle(s), and insurable under affiliate driver's policy.
• Able and willing to work with a diverse group of people, including families, volunteers, subcontractors and other community volunteers.
• Wear construction appropriate clothing and footwear (closed-toe shoes, weather appropriate clothing, etc.)

Position Information

• $19.25 per hour. This is a full-time, hourly position, Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday (including some nights and weekends—limited).
