Driver Manager/Dispatcher

Responsibilities

• Get loads off DAT Board. Keep trucks moving.
• Coordinate and dispatch drivers efficiently using transportation management systems (TMS), GPS, GIS mapping tools, and other routing software to optimize delivery schedules and routes.
• Monitor real-time vehicle locations via GPS to ensure timely pickups and deliveries while adjusting plans as needed for unforeseen delays or issues.
• Communicate clearly with drivers, clients, and warehouse teams through multi-line phone systems, phone etiquette, and effective communication skills to relay instructions and updates promptly.
• Manage freight shipments by verifying shipping & receiving documentation, tracking loads in Oracle Transportation Management or similar TMS platforms, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Utilize analysis skills to evaluate transportation data for route efficiency improvements, cost reductions, and service enhancements.
• Maintain accurate data entry of dispatch records, driver logs, and shipment details using systems such as AS400 or SyteLine.
• Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL), fleet management teams, and warehouse personnel to coordinate shipping schedules and resolve operational issues swiftly.

Experience

• Proven experience in transportation management or dispatching within a logistics or supply chain environment.
• Familiarity with transportation planning tools such as GIS, GPS tracking systems, Oracle Transportation Management, or similar TMS platforms.
• Strong understanding of freight shipping & receiving procedures along with knowledge of fleet management practices.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze transportation data for process improvement opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills with proficiency in phone etiquette, multi-line phone systems, and professional interaction with drivers and clients.
• Technical proficiency in data entry tasks using AS400, SyteLine or equivalent enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Experience working with logistics software including transportation management systems (TMS), shipping & receiving platforms, and 3PL coordination is highly desirable.
