Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance
- Establish and maintain the employee handbook.
- Manage HR compliance, including employee documentation, policy updates, and state-specific labor requirements.
- Oversee payroll administration, including running payroll, managing payroll taxes, and maintaining state Payroll Tax ID/Unemployment Insurance (UI) numbers.
- Set up and manage Gusto (or alternative HRIS), including onboarding, benefits enrollment, and payroll workflows.
- Manage employee benefits programs, including healthcare plans, 401(k) setup, renewals, and ongoing administration.
- Coordinate with legal and finance teams to gather signatures and documentation required by investors or internal stakeholders.
Benefits & Insurance Administration
- Establish and manage D&O insurance.
- Maintain and renew all business insurance policies, including general liability, workers' comp, professional liability, and umbrella policies.
- Manage copacker insurance requirements and ensure appropriate coverage is in place.
- Issue, track, and send Certificates of Insurance (COIs) to clients as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of insurance renewals, limits, and compliance requirements.
Systems & Employee Support
- Set up and manage employee email accounts, Slack profiles, and other core internal systems.
