Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain the employee handbook.
  • Manage HR compliance, including employee documentation, policy updates, and state-specific labor requirements.
  • Oversee payroll administration, including running payroll, managing payroll taxes, and maintaining state Payroll Tax ID/Unemployment Insurance (UI) numbers.
  • Set up and manage Gusto (or alternative HRIS), including onboarding, benefits enrollment, and payroll workflows.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, including healthcare plans, 401(k) setup, renewals, and ongoing administration.
  • Coordinate with legal and finance teams to gather signatures and documentation required by investors or internal stakeholders.

Benefits & Insurance Administration

  • Establish and manage D&O insurance.
  • Maintain and renew all business insurance policies, including general liability, workers' comp, professional liability, and umbrella policies.
  • Manage copacker insurance requirements and ensure appropriate coverage is in place.
  • Issue, track, and send Certificates of Insurance (COIs) to clients as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of insurance renewals, limits, and compliance requirements.

Systems & Employee Support

  • Set up and manage employee email accounts, Slack profiles, and other core internal systems.
