** Please add a cover letter with your resume** The Manager of Development is a key member of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation's development team, responsible for driving growth in new and existing markets through strategic relationship building, proactive prospecting, and research. This role plays a central part in expanding LCRF's national footprint by identifying and cultivating prospects - including corporate partners, event sponsors, foundations, and philanthropic individuals - and building strong, sustainable pipelines of support. This role will lead proactive outreach in emerging markets, conduct rigorous prospect research to surface new opportunities, and steward relationships that deepen engagement with LCRF's mission and accelerate philanthropic investment. This role will secure sponsorships for signature events, support the execution of cultivation strategies in growth markets, and help build local volunteer leadership to accelerate long-term expansion.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Donor Development
Relationship Management: Leverage prospect research and strategic qualification to build a strong pipeline of new donors, ensuring consistent, personalized and proactive outreach and relationship development that supports long-term engagement and giving. Communicating Impact: Stay informed on LCRF's research portfolio to communicate impact effectively and convert prospects into long-term supporters to boost retention. Collaboration: Partner with development, research, and communications teams to develop tailored proposals and impact materials, and support cross-departmental fundraising initiatives. Data: Maintain accurate CRM records, moves management tracking, and revenue projections. Event Fundraising & Execution
Event Revenue: Drive revenue for LCRF's events through sponsorships, tables, and tickets, while developing compelling decks and proposals that align corporate interests with LCRF's mission. Event Experience: Work alongside the development team in pre-event planning and onsite execution to ensure a seamless, mission-aligned, and meaningful donor and sponsor experience. Market Growth
Market Research: Support and advance LCRF's expansion into new markets by researching prospective regional partners, identifying community assets, and helping establish a strong foundation for long-term philanthropic growth. Volunteer Management: Partner with local committees and volunteer leaders with structure, tools, and strategy to ensure they are effectively supporting LCRF's mission and elevating awareness within their communities. Community Building: Build relationships with regional influencers, business leaders, and advocates to grow visibility, deepen engagement, and cultivate new donors and corporate partners. Qualifications:
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in development, prospecting, and market growth; exceptional relationship and communication skills; and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while advancing LCRF's strategic priorities. Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, with demonstrated success in frontline fundraising. Experience in corporate development and sponsorship solicitation strongly preferred. Background in event management and event-based fundraising, including working with committees and sponsors. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling donor language. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Comfort working with a CRM database and using data to inform strategy and track performance. Ability to work occasionally evenings and weekends for events and donor meetings, and to travel as needed.
