English/Reading Tutor

Do you love English, reading, and language arts? Are you passionate about helping students succeed academically? Huntington Learning Center is seeking experienced ELA Tutors to work with middle and high school students. This is a part-time tutoring role ideal for candidates with a bachelor's degree and prior tutoring experience. Experience with ACT and SAT English/Reading prep is a plus.

This is an instruction-only role—no lesson planning, grading, or parent communication required. We provide all materials, scheduling, and support so you can focus entirely on teaching and building student confidence.

Responsibilities as an ELA Tutor

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring (up to 4 students) in English, reading, and language arts
• Support students in high school ELA concepts, including grammar, literature, reading comprehension, and writing skills
• Prepare students for ACT and SAT English/Reading sections
• Build positive rapport with students to foster a supportive learning environment
• Deliver instruction using Huntington Learning Center resources and curriculum

ELA Tutor Schedule & Work Environment

• Flexible, part-time hours
• Must be available during weeknights (3:30 - 7:30 PM) and/or Saturday mornings (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
• In-person tutoring at our Mayfield Heights, OH center
• Paid training and ongoing academic support provided

Qualifications for ELA Tutor

• Bachelor's degree required (field does not need to be English or Education)
• Prior experience as an ELA Tutor, English Tutor, Reading Tutor, or Academic Tutor preferred
• Strong knowledge of high school English, reading, and language arts concepts
• Ability to build rapport quickly with school-aged students
• Teaching certification or license not required
• Experience with ACT/SAT English or Reading prep is a plus
• Must successfully complete an in-person English/Reading comprehension assessment
