Position Title: Junior Structural Engineer L ocation: Pelham, New York Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-exempt Reports To: Principal, Associate, Project Manager Position Overview Our Client, a growing structural engineering firm specializing in restoration and rehabilitation of existing buildings in the NYC metropolitan area, is seeking a motivated Junior Structural Engineer to join their team in Pelham, NY. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional with a strong interest in restoration and structural engineering. The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to our diverse and challenging projects. Essential Responsibilities Assist in the investigation, analysis, and assessment of building structures and components. Support the preparation of design documents, including drawings, reports, and specifications. Conduct site visits and field inspections to document existing conditions and assist in construction observations. Research building codes and materials relevant to projects under guidance from senior staff. Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met. Participate in internal meetings and client discussions as appropriate. Continuously seek feedback and apply learning to improve technical and professional skills. Desired Skills and Qualities Strong work ethic and commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. Demonstrated interest in how things work—curiosity about buildings, systems, and structural behavior. Ability to take direction, respond well to feedback, and work both independently and within a team. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Reliable time management skills and accountability for meeting deadlines. Interest in pursuing PE licensure in the future. Some relevant work experience (internships, co-ops, or office experience) preferred. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required). 0-3 years of structural design experience is desired. We will consider recent grads with strong academic profiles, relevant internship experience, and a strong work ethic. Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with structural analysis software a plus. Must have reliable transportation to job sites throughout the NYC metro area. Comfortable with physical job site visits, including climbing ladders and scaffolding, and working at heights.
