Time: Monday evenings from 6pm-9pm, Potentially Saturday 2p-5p

The Huron Community Association offers a variety of different activities for adults and youth of all ages.

The HCA is looking for staff who are organized, motivated to participate, and skilled at being asset builders for children and youth. You may be asked to also supervise additional volunteers.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implement age-appropriate painting activities for children (ages 7–9, 10–13 and and adults, ensuring each group has engaging and suitable projects.
  • Introduce participants to a different painting technique or theme each week tailored to their age group.
  • Prepare all painting lesson plans prior to the start of the session and provide a detailed list of required supplies.
  • Organize unique painting activities for each day of the program.
  • Foster creativity, encourage friendships, and help build self-esteem among participants of all ages.
  • Coordinate participant-centered programming and ensure all supplies are available and ready.
  • Provide coordination, support, and leadership to other program staff and volunteers.
  • Act as a positive role model for program staff, volunteers, and participants.
  • Implement positive and effective behavior management strategies for children while maintaining an inclusive and supportive environment for adults.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess relevant leadership, administration, supervision, communication, social development and positive behaviour management skills
  • Knowledge and experience in child programming
  • Experience leading a club or relevant activities an asset
  • Must have current Standard First-Aid Certificate
  • Police check required upon offer of employment
  • Ability to work independently and purchase supplies within a budget
  • Own transportation to program location will be required

Recommended age: 18 years of age and older

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Working with children: 1 year (required)
  • Watercolour painting: 1 year (required)
  • Acrylic Paint: 1 year (required)

Work Location: In person
