Medical Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing comprehensive support in a cardiac practice assisting with patient care, and ensuring smooth operational workflows across outpatient and inpatient environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical procedures, terminology, and patient service, with experience in various specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and emergency medicine. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality healthcare services within a fast-paced, dynamic setting such as Level I and Level II trauma centers, Geriatrics, PICU, and medical-surgical units. Experience with Cardiac patients is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake procedures including collecting medical histories and documenting vital signs
• Assist with patient examinations and procedures in outpatient and inpatient settings
• Support physicians with medication administration, injections, and basic life support as needed
• Operate EHR systems efficiently for documentation of patient information and ICD coding
• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment for procedures such as X-ray or minor surgeries
• Assist with laboratory tasks including specimen collection and processing
• Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and post-care instructions
• Support hospital staff with medical administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
• Maintain accurate records of patient care activities following HIPAA regulations
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in high-acuity environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or PICU

Experience

• Prior experience in outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, or emergency settings preferred
• Hands-on experience with medical-surgical procedures, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Knowledge of ICD coding systems and familiarity with EHR systems is essential
• Experience working in specialized areas such as dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, or OR settings is a plus
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or trauma are advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or hospital units including Geriatrics or PICU
• Previous experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable
