Certified Pharmacy Technician – Non-Sterile Compounding (HD & Non-HD)

We are seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician with non-sterile compounding experience to join our outpatient compounding pharmacy team. This role focuses on the preparation of customized non-sterile medications, including hazardous and non-hazardous compounds, while maintaining strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and passionate about personalized patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist in non-sterile compounding of customized medications, including creams, ointments, gels, capsules, powders, suspensions, and solutions.
  • Prepare hazardous (HD) and non-hazardous compounds in compliance with USP and USP standards.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, mix, and package ingredients according to master formulation records and pharmacy SOPs.
  • Maintain complete and accurate compounding documentation, including compounding logs, lot numbers, expiration dates, and beyond-use dating (BUD).
  • Properly label and package compounded prescriptions for dispensing.
  • Ensure appropriate use of PPE, containment strategies, and cleaning procedures when handling hazardous drugs.
  • Maintain inventory control for APIs, excipients, and compounding supplies, including proper storage and segregation of HD and non-HD materials.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of non-sterile compounding areas and equipment per established SOPs.
  • Support quality assurance and compliance activities, including temperature and humidity logs, cleaning logs, and equipment checks.
  • Ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, USP standards, and internal policies.
  • Assist with prescription intake, data entry, and workflow support as needed.
  • Provide courteous, professional service to patients and staff; respond to general inquiries related to compounded medications (non-clinical).

Qualifications

  • Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license (required).
  • Experience in non-sterile compounding preferred, including hazardous drug handling.
  • Knowledge of USP and USP standards strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow detailed formulations, SOPs, and documentation requirements.
  • Comfortable working in a regulated, safety-focused compounding environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive compounding tasks.
