Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, the incumbent performs a variety of clerical and data management activities, including payroll administration.  The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, perform and coordinate multiple tasks, set priorities appropriately, identify problems and institute appropriate follow through. 
Covered under University series concept / job specification for classification 4722. Under general direction works on operational and/or procedural assignments that require the exercise of considerable discretion and independent judgment. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $ $41.55 (Hourly Rate).

  • High school graduation four years of related admin/clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Strong writing skills including the ability to compose edit and proof a wide variety of
    • documents
     
  • Demonstrated administrative/office management skills
  • Strong organizational analytical and coordinating skills
  • Proven ability to deal with a wide variety of individuals
  • Ability to use good judgment and work independently at times under the pressure of deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for Windows
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in handling sensitive issues with discretion to qualifications
  • Familiarity with MyTime
  • Experience with prescreening job applicants, setting up job interviews, scheduling meetings and taking minutes
    • Thorough knowledge in administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Requires good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills. Requires interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel.
    Baccalaureate degree
    Prior experience in a medical / healthcare environment

    Department Description
    The Neurosciences Specialty Unit is a primary site for patients admitted to the Neurology, Neurovascular and Neurosurgical services. This is an acuity adaptable unit and will have patients who may require neurological assessment and care on a more frequent basis and on a more complex level than the acute care areas but do not require placement in an Intensive Care Unit.
    The level of skill of staff members require the ability to perform complex neuro assessments, astute observations and compassionate caring for patients.
    The unit has 24 beds with cardiac telemetry and intracranial pressure monitoring capability.
