The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining referral relationships and partnerships that promote the growth of the home health agency. This position focuses on increasing patient census through strategic marketing initiatives, outreach to healthcare professionals, and community engagement while ensuring all activities align with agency goals and regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement marketing and outreach strategies to drive referrals and admissions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, discharge planners, case managers, and community partners.
- Conduct regular field visits to promote agency services and gather feedback on client and referral source needs.
- Represent the agency at community events, health fairs, and professional networking functions.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Track and analyze referral data, trends, and outcomes to evaluate business development performance.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on marketing activities, referral results, and growth projections.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials, digital campaigns, and outreach tools.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of home health services, payer sources, and healthcare market trends.
- Ensure all marketing and business development practices comply with state and federal regulations, including anti-kickback and referral laws.
- Provide input into strategic planning and contribute to the agency's overall growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in healthcare marketing, business development, or sales; home health or post-acute care experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Strong understanding of home health operations, referral processes, and industry regulations.
- Proven track record in developing business relationships and increasing referral volume.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Goal-oriented and self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM or referral tracking systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
