JOB SUMMARY— APP Professional Development & Education Specialist
We are actively recruiting an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Professional Development & Education Team at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) to support the learning needs within the division of advanced practice. TGH serves as the primary academic partner for the University of South Florida.

RESPONSIBILITIES— APP Professional Development & Education Specialist
Program Development & Management
- Develop, implement, and oversee APP fellowship, onboarding, and orientation programs.
- Design and manage continuing education initiatives to meet the clinical, regulatory, and professional development needs of APPs.
- Lead the creation of curricula for APP-specific training, including didactic sessions, clinical simulations, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Ensure educational offerings align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and professional standards (e.g., APPFA accreditation).
Mentorship & Professional Growth
- Establish mentorship programs to support APP career development and role integration.
- Provide individual coaching and guidance for APPs on clinical practice, leadership, and academic advancement.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and support to promote APP job satisfaction and retention.
Clinical Education & Competency
- Facilitate training on clinical competencies, evidence-based practice, and emerging technologies relevant to APPs.
- Conduct regular needs assessments to identify educational gaps and opportunities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of education programs through feedback, metrics, and outcomes data.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with clinical leadership, medical staff, and organizational development teams to integrate APPs into strategic initiatives.
- Represent the APP group in interdisciplinary committees related to education, quality improvement, and professional development.
- Advocate for APP contributions in policy-making, resource allocation, and workforce planning.
Quality Improvement & Research
- Lead or support quality improvement (QI) and performance improvement (PI) projects involving APPs.
- Collaborate on research initiatives to evaluate the impact of APP education on patient care outcomes.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficiency in curriculum development, program evaluation, and educational technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address educational needs and improve outcomes.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise utilizing evidence and theory-based practice, infection control standards and clinical evaluations in providing care to clients in clinic or hospital-based settings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Epic
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in quality improvement or project management in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of accreditation processes for APP programs, such as APPFA.
Expertise in facilitating interprofessional education and collaboration.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice as an APP—ideally 5+ years.
Proven experience in education, mentoring, or leadership roles;
Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design in healthcare settings; faculty experience at the collegiate level.
Current licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Florida.
National board certification required for APRNs & PAs.
