Dispatcher

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Dispatcher to coordinate transportation operations within our logistics team. The ideal candidate will manage freight movements, optimize routes, and ensure timely delivery by utilizing advanced transportation management systems and analysis skills. This role requires excellent communication, phone etiquette, and data entry abilities to effectively liaise with drivers, clients, and internal departments. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in maintaining efficient supply chain operations and fleet management, contributing to overall customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
• Utilize GIS and GPS tools to plan optimal routes for delivery efficiency and compliance with transportation planning standards.
• Monitor fleet movements via multi-line phone systems, GPS tracking, and transportation management software to ensure timely deliveries.
• Manage shipping & receiving activities, including freight documentation, data entry, and tracking shipments through AS400 or similar platforms.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams using professional phone etiquette and clear communication skills.
• Oversee logistics operations related to 3PL providers, freight carriers, and warehouse activities such as shipping & receiving.
• Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements in supply chain efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, vehicle statuses, and shipment details for reporting purposes.
• Assist in fleet management tasks including vehicle scheduling, maintenance coordination, and compliance adherence.

Requirements

• Proven experience in dispatching within logistics or transportation management environments.
• Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, transportation management systems (such as Oracle Transportation Management), and supply chain processes.
• Familiarity with transportation planning, logistics operations, freight management, and fleet management practices.
• Excellent analysis skills to interpret data related to shipping & receiving, routing efficiency, and operational metrics.
• Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy using platforms like AS400 or SyteLine.
• Ability to operate multi-line phone systems professionally while demonstrating strong phone etiquette and communication skills.
• Technical skills including typing speed and familiarity with transportation management software are essential.
