Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and personable Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires a professional with strong administrative skills, familiarity with dental and medical terminology, and experience with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. The Dental Receptionist will ensure smooth office operations while providing excellent patient service in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and manage patient intake processes efficiently
  • Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
  • Collect payments and process transactions accurately, including medical billing and collections
  • Maintain and update patient records
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist patients with inquiries
  • Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and documentation review
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards
  • Support clinic staff with administrative tasks related to care plans and health information management

Skills

  • Proven experience as a dental Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role within a dental or healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and insurance procedures
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), data entry (10 key typing), and office management software
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
  • Previous clinic or dental office experience preferred; familiarity with medical billing and coding is advantageous
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
