Activities Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a senior care environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or long-term care, with a strong focus on enhancing residents' quality of life through recreational and social programs. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory impairments. The Activities Assistant will work closely with residents, staff, and families to create a supportive and vibrant community atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including social events, games, arts and crafts, music therapy, and outings.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, promoting independence and dignity.
• Manage activity schedules to ensure a balanced and engaging calendar that meets the diverse needs of residents.
• Support residents with memory care needs by implementing specialized programs focused on cognitive stimulation and emotional well-being.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to identify individual resident preferences and develop personalized activity plans.
• Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Foster a warm, inclusive environment that encourages social interaction and emotional support for residents with disabilities or aging issues.
• Assist in counseling residents on aging issues and provide companionship to promote mental health and overall happiness.

Skills

• Experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and long-term care best practices.
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with seniors, families, and team members.
• Ability to assist residents with ADLs while maintaining respect for their independence.
• Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
• Compassionate caregiving approach with experience working with people with disabilities or in home & community care settings.
• Background in social work or counseling related to aging issues is advantageous.
