Title: Clinical Informatics Analyst

PART ONE: Dimension and Description
Primary Purpose: Identifies clinical practice workflow and process issues and concerns, and provides leadership and guidance to define system and process requirements that will optimize performance and utilization by clinicians. The Clinical Informatics Analyst is responsible for the assessment, planning, training, implementation, evaluation, and optimization of nursing informatics projects. The goal of the position is to serve as the primary interface between nursing, IT, and patient care services to ensure transparent multidisciplinary delivery of healthcare technology.
Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities : Formally responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job's purpose and essential responsibilities
Routine Decision Making: Works with clinical leadership to offer technology solutions that follow patient care best practices while maintaining integrity of electronic systems designed to support patient care.
Required Knowledge: Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies. Knowledge of nursing process and practices. Knowledge of mandates of regulatory and accrediting bodies.
Required Skills and Ability: Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with health care members providing care. Excellent analytical skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education and Certification/ Registration Required for the Position: Clinical Degree for patient-facing role.
PART TWO: Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
A Ensures the completion and effectiveness of assessing, planning, implementation, evaluation, and optimization of nursing informatics projects. (35% of time
Collaborates with clinical department directors/managers, physicians, and other key staff in overall project evaluation.
Supervises optimization projects for units.
Works closely with project leaders to identify project objectives, expected outcomes, resource requirements, and evaluation strategies. Work with the team to implement projects.
Contributes to the design and conduct of evidence-based practice and quality improvement activities related to the care of patients and their families.
B Provides program management for nursing informatics projects. (35% of time)
Works to establish policies and practices for the IT team to support the delivery and maintenance of health information technology.
Assesses unit and department technology needs
Helps coordinate training to support new software implementations.
Provides ongoing end-user education and develops recommended policies and procedures.
Works with appropriate department teams to confirm staff involvement and competency for projects.
Provides support to nursing staff for relevant technologies through regular clinical rounds.
Provides support for daily system operations for relevant technologies.
Role model leadership behaviors that demonstrate professional values and commitment to advanced practice.
C Facilitates a safe practice environment for interdisciplinary team members to use technology. (30% of time
Establish collaborative relationships with other members of the healthcare team.
Evaluate current interventions and emerging technologies to ensure implementation strategies that promote viable data, cost, safety, and quality outcomes.
Provide a nursing perspective and articulate nursing needs related to the integration of technology in patient care delivery.
Evaluates necessary changes in nursing clinical practice and workflow as related to technology, including new functionality.
Analyzes processes and implements necessary process improvements related to technology.
Evaluates practice setting suitability for use of technology with the goal of ultimately achieving one standard of care.
Evaluates outcomes of technology use including but not limited to feedback from users and impact on improved care

QualificationsClinical degree or higher education.
Knowledge with an EMR, preferably Meditech, with application build experience.
Hospital or clinic workflow knowledge.
