Surgical Technologist

Overview
The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room, providing essential support to surgeons and other medical personnel during surgical procedures. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for ensuring that the surgical environment is safe, sterile, and organized, contributing to successful patient outcomes.

Duties

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures by ensuring all instruments and supplies are available and properly sterilized.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary items during operations.
• Collect and analyze data related to patient vital signs before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Monitor patients' conditions throughout the surgery, recognizing any changes that may require immediate attention.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure effective communication and coordination during procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy and physiology to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
• Participate in emergency medicine protocols as needed during critical situations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology is essential for understanding surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to apply aseptic techniques consistently throughout all surgical processes.
• Excellent communication skills are required for effective collaboration with medical staff.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent training is preferred.
