Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative tasks. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes including medical collection activities
  • Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring optimal clinic flow
  • Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing information or directing calls to appropriate staff members
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review
  • Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and documentation review for billing accuracy
  • Manage office supplies, file medical records systematically, and support general administrative functions such as filing and data entry using Microsoft Office tools
  • Support clinical staff by preparing care plans or related documentation as needed in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in medical office management with at least one year of clinic experience or dental office experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and health information management practices
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
  • Proficiency in computer skills including typing (10 key typing), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), and office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and perform billing activities related to Medicare or other insurance providers
  • Bilingual skills are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing tasks
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
