If you are looking for a dynamic organization this is the opportunity for you. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Saint John, NB.

This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance in producing timely and accurate Financial reports and assist in providing financial analysis to Senior Management and stakeholders. As the Senior Accountant, key objectives required for success are accurate and timely financials, and maintaining appropriate internal processes and controls.

You will be expected to perform a diversified range of tasks and follow standardized, multifaceted procedures including:

  • Prepare monthly Financial Statement package
  • Supervise a team of 4 employees 
  • Annual financial reporting
  • Budget preparation and analysis
  • AGM assistance
  • Assist with acquisitions and the due diligence process
  • Bank management, including, daily banking tasks and cash planning 
  • Lead Year End audit
  • Review Bank and GL reconciliations 
  • AP functions
    • Prepare cheques once processed
    • Uploading EFT files for payment
    • Preparing online bill payments (i.e.: payroll tax, HST, etc.)
  • Prepare and file HST and PST 
  • Assisting AR and AP with account investigations
  • Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports
  • Provide mentoring and support to supervisors, managers and the inventory team
  • Lead internal compliance audit
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation – work closely with and collaborate with the Director of Finance
  • Managerial reporting – determine critical reporting including: industry specific KPI's; industry comparisons
  • Drive efficiencies aimed at improving accuracy, shortening month-end closing cycle and reduction of manual entries
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as required

Suitable candidates will meet the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • CPA Designation 
  • 5+ years' experience in Accounting
  • Be familiar and comfortable working with financial documents 
  • Experience gathering data, compiling the proper information, and preparing financial reports
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in processing files and records with accuracy; have ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Exceptional level of discretion, confidentiality, and judgement 
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the fortitude to take initiative where appropriate
  • Able to work independently, and take full ownership of activities
  • Computer literate, and proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with Great Plains software will be an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Initiative, ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions
  • High energy, self-motivated and must have a positive attitude
  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task, collaborate with others to promote understanding and provide necessary support
