THE
ROLE IN A NUTSHELL
Individual Insurance is
undergoing a multi-year strategic transformation to deliver on desired 2030
glide path, requiring the department to execute on an ambitious roadmap of
projects and new initiatives.
The Director of Strategic
Planning and Execution, Individual Insurance, is responsible for the strategy,
planning, and delivery of our strategic initiative roadmap. The director reporting to the VP on Consumer
Segment, managing a newly formed team of three individuals (program manager,
product manager, and analytics specialist). Key responsibilities include:
- Development of Strategic Roadmap: Prepare a 3-5 year roadmap to articulate the longer term investments and transformation needed to stay ahead of the competition, meet evolving client needs, and enable transformation growth
- Lead on Annual Financial Planning Cycle: own the AOP strategic planning cycle for Individual Insurance, articulating the plans, business cases, securing budget, partnering with finance on assumption gathering and alignment, securing commitment from enabling functions to deliver on roadmap
- Delivery of In-Year Strategic Roadmap: accountable for the delivery of the strategic initiatives, leading cross-functional team, holding responsibility for budget, timing, and results
- Insurance Product Design and Pricing: management and continuous optimization of individual insurance product shelf, delivering best in class features, coverage, and pricing
- Client and Competitive Intel: centralized owner for Individual Insurance spanning market share reporting, competitive pricing analysis, industry innovation, and client feedback
- Individual Insurance Strategy Lead on Enterprise initiatives: represent Individual Insurance on enterprise wide initiatives, advocating for the Individual Insurance and leading workstreams
- Team Leadership & Culture Building: build and lead high-performing strategy and delivery team. Foster a culture of results focus,
collaboration, accountability, and innovation
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're not looking for just anyone. We're looking for a

- Proven ability running strategic initiatives, from strategy development, to planning to delivery
- 6+ years experience in an H&D Individual Insurance leadership capacity, preference for expertise within direct-to-consumer sales including direct (digital and sales centre) and advisor sales channels
- Exceptional financial and analytical aptitude extracting insights from data and formulating customer first strategies, business case development, and P&L management
- Deep understanding of the individual insurance competitive landscape, including product, pricing, and sales strategies
- Well versed in project delivery, project management tools, software, and frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presents with confidence to executives and able to influence senior leaders across the organization
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration
NICE TO HAVES
- 10+ years experience in an H&D Individual Insurance leadership capacity, strong preference for expertise within direct to consumer sales including direct and advisor sales channels
- Experience across various individual insurance products including Travel and Life Insurance
- Education: MBA or Master's Level Qualification
- Certifications or Designations: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
