About Cabin Operations Ltd

We specialize in environmental restoration and the development of sustainable outdoor recreation, utilizing light civil services and precision excavation to protect and enhance natural landscapes. Our work focuses on ecological integrity through riparian and stream restoration, combined with the expert construction of trails, bridges, boardwalks and park infrastructure that connects people to the environment.

We are looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to lead project execution in the field, embody Cabin's values, and ensure our projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest environmental and construction standards.

Location: Based in the Okanagan/Shuswap with travel required for out-of-town projects (LOA & accommodations provided)

Core Responsibilities & Competencies

1. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate field crews while upholding Cabin's values.
  • Delegate tasks clearly and hold teams accountable for quality and productivity.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to support staff development.
  • Maintain clear communication with Division Manager, Project Manager and office staff

2. Safety & Compliance

  • Take ownership of Site Safety.
  • Implement and enforce all WorkSafeBC requirements, company safety policies, and SOPs.
  • Conduct daily FLHAs, Toolbox Talks, and site inspections using the Safety Admin App.
  • Ensure the correct use of PPE and proper adherence to all Safe Work Procedures.
  • Complete incident reports and participate in investigations as required.

3. Environmental Stewardship

  • Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and BMPs.
  • Supervise sensitive work in riparian areas, wetlands, and protected zones.
  • Implement sediment and erosion control measures and support ecological restoration goals.

4. Technical & Construction Knowledge

  • Interpret drawings, blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
  • Oversee construction of trails, bridges, boardwalks, creek diversions, planting, and erosion control works.
  • Apply civil construction/earthworks knowledge and natural systems restoration techniques.
  • Operate or supervise the operation of small tools, machinery, and equipment.

5. Project Execution

  • Collaborate with Project Managers to meet budget, schedule, and work plan objectives.
  • Organize daily/weekly work plans aligned with project milestones.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, material deliveries, and inspections.
  • Ensure quality control and resolve field issues related to weather, terrain, and unforeseen conditions.

6. Communication & Reporting

  • Maintain clear and timely communication with Project Managers and office staff.
  • Submit daily reports documenting production, delays, weather, and incidents.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, consultants, and regulators.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including safety forms, inspections, and material logs.

7. Equipment & Material Management

  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and security of tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and track usage efficiently.
  • Report equipment issues promptly.

8. Time & Productivity Management

  • Maximize crew productivity through proactive planning and job sequencing.
  • Identify and eliminate workflow bottlenecks.
  • Track time and production to support project costing and invoicing.

9. Quality Assurance

  • Ensure work complies with environmental and construction specifications, MMCD standards, and contract requirements.
  • Address deficiencies quickly and thoroughly.
  • Take pride in delivering functional, beautiful, and ecologically responsible outcomes.

10. Adaptability & Problem Solving

  • Navigate changing site conditions, weather challenges, and remote project locations.
  • Make informed decisions with limited supervision.
  • Be resourceful and solution-focused under pressure.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Site Supervisor.
  • Environmental restoration experience required.
  • Civil construction experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience leading outdoor recreation and environmental projects including:
    • Trail construction
    • Park development
    • Stream and riparian restoration
    • Bridge and boardwalk construction
    • Commercial landscaping
  • Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC requirements and company safety programs.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, blueprints, and site plans.
  • Experience operating, directing, and maintaining equipment.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and job sequencing.
  • Ability to manage daily workflow, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Competent with digital tools: PDFs, spreadsheets, time-tracking apps, tablets/phones.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to keep jobsites clean, safe, and well-organized.
  • Willingness to travel for out-of-town projects.
