Leacock Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Orillia,Ontario and serves 145 residents. The community is approximately 30 km north-east of Barrie and is known for outdoor recreation, history, culture and lakeside living.Commonly known as the Sunshine City, Orillia boasts extensive waterfront trails and parks, a thriving arts and culture scene and a charming historic downtown teeming with excellent shopping and dining choices.

Join our team as a Unit Clerk

Under the direction of the Director of Care, the Unit Clerk is responsible and accountable for a wide variety of clerical duties in support of care and services to promote the overall well being of our residents. 

This administrative support role covers four main areas:

  1. Administration & Reception: Managing visitors, communication (phone/correspondence), records, inventory, and general clerical tasks (typing, scanning).

  2. Resident & Clinical Support : Coordinating appointments, maintaining accurate/updated resident medical charts, and processing documentation for admissions, transfers, and deaths.

  3. General Duties & Compliance : Portering residents, ensuring safety (fire/disaster plans, hazard reporting), maintaining strict confidentiality, and engaging in quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

  4. Professional Development : Attending mandatory meetings/training, assisting with new staff orientation, and adhering to safe work practices.

The Unit Clerk also promotes positive experiences with residents, family members and guests, and interacts with other departments to ensure seamless resident care.

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1 year related experience

  • Previous experience working in healthcare environment preferred

  • General knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures

  • Computer proficiency

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong sense of responsibility

  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Good problem solving skills
