Charge Nurse

Orthopaedic Medical Group Surgery Center is a fast-paced, well established surgery center located in Lithia, FL. The OR Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the operating room and managing the OR staff.

This role works closely with the Nurse Administrator, COO, and medical staff to support quality initiatives, staff performance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the operating room (OR)
• Facilitate OR workflow and efficient operations by providing direction and guidance to staff.
• Ensure patient and family service needs are met; monitor patient service feedback and collaborate with the Nurse Administrator to resolve complaints or service issues.
• Maintain contact and follow-up with staff, partners, and physicians when applicable.
• Support and promote a positive role model and professional image with vendors, patients, staff, managers, and physicians.
• Develop strong inter-department teamwork and empower staff to meet the needs of patients and physicians.
• Collaborate with the Nurse Administrator to manage adequate staffing ratios and overtime.
• Partner with the Nurse Administrator to develop, implement, and oversee the staffing schedule.
• Assist with timecard management for direct reports, including PTO approvals, missed punches, and lunch breaks.
• Participate in and provide feedback for performance reviews of direct reports.
• Compose and issue verbal warnings to direct reports in collaboration with the Nurse Administrator and HR (if applicable).
• Adhere to all regulatory and legal compliance requirements related to confidentiality and safety (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).
• Perform other responsibilities in the assigned area as needed, such as materials coordination, staff orientation, and staffing, to include circulating duties.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
• Current Florida RN license required
• Prior leadership or management experience in an outpatient surgery center or hospital setting (orthopedic experience preferred)
• Prior operating room (OR) circulating experience required
• Experience with vendor relations
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with computers and clinical documentation systems

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the facility and perform administrative and clinical duties
• Ability to lift and assist patients as needed
• Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens
