We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for animals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary practices, including experience in orthopedics. This role involves assisting our veterinarian in delivering high-quality medical care, ensuring the well-being of pets, and maintaining a safe and clean environment for both animals and staff.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
  • Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using veterinary terminology.
  • Provide support in animal catheterization procedures as needed.
  • Engage in animal husbandry practices to ensure proper care and management of animals.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift/Expected hours: 40 per week
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights
  • No weekends

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a veterinary setting, preferably with orthopedics.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate well with clients.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal handling techniques.
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques and pet grooming practices is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their welfare.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly while providing excellent patient care.
