The Warehouse Mechanic Class II makes an impact by–

  • Follow GMP, plant safety regulations, quality control standards, and company policies.
  • Work safely and attend required training to prevent injuries.
  • Observe and troubleshoot mechanical devices using technical manuals and diagnostic methods.
  • Complete and maintain forms such as preventive maintenance checklists and work orders.
  • Suggest improvements to work methods and procedures.
  • Use assembly drawings, electrical, and hydraulic schematics for repairs and part orders.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Assist in electrical system installation and repair using diagrams and manufacturer specifications.
  • Repair or replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
  • Assist in conveyor system adjustments and industrial lift truck maintenance.
  • Perform welding (non-certified) and operate metalworking tools (lathe, drill press, grinder).
  • Replace electric motor bearings and brushes.
  • Take and record plant water meter and temperature readings.
  • Work overtime, including weekends, as required.
  • Comply with corporate and regulatory quality, GLP, GMP, FSMA, and safety standards.
  • Support Safe Quality Foods (SQF) program and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with all corporate and regulatory quality, GLP, and safety regulations.
  • Perform all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and FSMA guidelines as well as all safety regulations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage work in department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements that provide value to the customer.
  • Be accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands-

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • The employee is required to talk and/or hear in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are high (PPE required).
  • The employee is required to wear mandated PPE based on assigned job area.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an manufacturing environment for 8+ hours.
  • The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks.
  • Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks.
  • The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment.
  • Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must have ability to work rotating or non-traditional shifts as needed, including overtime as required by business needs.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that contain allergens such as Milk, Soy, Wheat, Peanut, Treenuts, Egg, Shellfish, and Fish.
  • Must be able to work in the environment for the position, which may range from extreme heat to extreme cold or from wet/humid to dry/arid.
