Position Summary
The District Support Technician I provides Level 1 technical support for software, hardware, and network issues to all District users by diagnosing and resolving problems. The ideal candidate communicates technical solutions clearly in a user-friendly manner, offers one-on-one support as needed, and aids peers with computer, software, and phone issues. This role also includes device deployment across the district, conducting hardware and software inventory, and reporting. The successful candidate will foster a high-quality teaching and learning environment.

Training And Experience
Framingham Public Schools seeks candidates whose background, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of education.
- An associate degree in Information Systems or a technology-related discipline is preferred.
- A+ Certification, or at least two years of experience in a technical support position, preferably in a school setting, is required.

- Proficiency in using technology and willingness to learn new tools; ability to operate a computer and utilize software, including Google Workspace for Education.
- Willingness to plan, coordinate, and participate in ongoing professional learning, coaching, and staff development.
- Experience in evaluating student skills, interpreting assessment data, and writing clear, concise reports.
- Strong collaborative, instructional, coaching, and leadership skills to support student programming.
- Ability to use data effectively to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
- Knowledge of specialized content areas, relevant laws, and educational procedures.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons that align with district and school goals.
- Proficiency in integrating instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
- Analyze problems, conduct research, and resolve end-user issues related to hardware, operating systems, and software on Chromebooks, laptops, and desktops. Additional supported hardware includes printers, copiers, projectors, and other A/V equipment.
- Provide technical support to each school in the district as needed, either on-site or through remote connections, phone, HelpDesk system, and/or email, depending on the severity of the issue.
- Set up, deploy, and maintain district hardware, utilizing imaging software and performing daily break/fix tasks.
- Accurately track all customer problems and requests in the district ticketing system to ensure timely follow-up on inquiries and completion of assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with other IT personnel in the Operational Technology Department.
- Advocate for and adhere to IT strategies, hardware and software standards, security policies, and operational procedures established by the Office of Technology Department, ensuring consistent application across all schools in the district.

- Regularly required to move about the school building and may need to traverse various environments, including classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- On rare occasions, may need to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces.
- Often remains in a stationary position for extended periods, particularly when operating computers and other office machinery.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; may need to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Expected to lift at least 25 lbs and handle various technology equipment, including laptops, projectors, and printers, requiring bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Frequently uses hands for fingering, handling, or feeling; must have hand strength to grasp tools and operate office productivity machinery (e.g., calculator, copy machine, computer printer).
- Must be able to input information into a computer and read material from a monitor, as well as handwritten or printed matter, with or without visual aids.
- Required to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and over the phone.
- Works in a typical school environment with an acceptable level of noise and interaction with students, parents, and staff.
- Directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
