Position Summary

The Soldering Operator is responsible for assembling, soldering, and inspecting electronic components and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) in accordance with company standards, customer specifications, and industry requirements (such as IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001). This role supports the production team in delivering high-quality assemblies on time for our contract manufacturing customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) using soldering irons and related tools.
  • Operate and maintain soldering equipment.
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Inspect solder joints and assemblies to ensure compliance with IPC quality standards.
  • Rework and repair assemblies as needed, including component removal and replacement.
  • Follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) handling procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S and safety guidelines.
  • Meet daily production goals while maintaining strict quality standards.
  • Communicate issues, defects, or process concerns to supervisors or quality assurance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in soldering preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in soldering electronic assemblies, preferably in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 soldering standards (certification is a plus).
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precision work.
  • Familiarity with ESD handling procedures.
  • Basic computer skills for recording work data in manufacturing systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small parts and tools.
  • Visual acuity to inspect fine details on assemblies, sometimes with magnification tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.

Work Environment

  • Clean manufacturing floor with ESD controls.
  • Team-oriented, fast-paced production environment.
  • May require overtime or flexible scheduling to meet customer demand.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
