Position Overview

The Lead Barista is responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining quality control, and fostering a positive team culture. As a key holder, this role includes opening and closing shifts, managing inventory, and ensuring all baristas uphold our standards of excellence in coffee preparation and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Barista & Customer Experience

• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and espresso beverages with consistency and care.

• Provide exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

• Maintain extensive knowledge of our menu, brewing techniques, and coffee origins.

Key Holder & Shift Leadership

• Open and close the shop, ensuring all daily setup and shutdown procedures are completed.

• Oversee cash handling, register reconciliation, and deposit procedures.

• Ensure the shop is secure and properly locked at the end of the day.

Operations & Team Support

• Lead by example, coaching and mentoring team members.

• Adhering to professionalism standards set by ownership.

• Assist in training new hires and ensuring adherence to company policies.

• Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and health code-compliant work environment.

• Address customer concerns and troubleshoot issues as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 1-2 years of specialty coffee or barista experience

Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk steaming, and manual brewing methods.

Ability to work independently and take initiative in problem-solving.

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to multitask efficiently.

Reliable, punctual, and able to handle opening/closing responsibilities.

A passion for coffee, customer service, and fostering community.
