Position Overview:

The Labourer will provide work as part of the processing team to provide a range of support to Equipment Operators with a high degree of professionalism, organization and, time management. This position may lead to advancement into an Equipment Operator Role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):


• Receive, inspect and verify incoming materials and components against packing slips and purchase orders


• Ensure deliveries are unloaded by labourer with use of forklift and stored in appropriate locations


• Label materials and products with correct job number, heat numbers (as required)


• Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labelling and coordinating with carriers and provide all necessary info to give to buyer to set up shipment, including customs info that may be required.


• Track inventory movement and update records in SAGE system


• Conduct mid-year & year-end inventory counts


• Report discrepancies, damaged goods or inventory issues to driver/supplier/shop supervisors immediately


• Comply with all safety regulations and company policies


• Perform occasional local pickups or deliveries as required


• Compile and file Material Test Certificates, if required

Required Skills and Experience:


• High school diploma or equivalent;


• Previous experience in shipping/receiving, preferably in a fabrication, manufacturing or industrial setting


• Forklift certification or experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation


• Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel;


• Experience using purchasing programs Coupa & SAGE considered an asset


• Familiarity with basic measurement tools (tape measure, calipers)


• Knowledge of metals and fabrication materials is an asset


• Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure within fixed time constraints;


• Ability to exhibit sound judgement and confidentiality


• Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change to support the growth of the company and meet needs of customers

Certification/Licenses


• Valid driver's license;

Work Environment:


• The Shipper/Receiver will spend their time in a fabrication shop and warehouse environment


• Exposure to noise, dust and varying temperatures


• Require use of PPE

Physical Demands:


• It is expected that the employee be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;


• Position at times, involves standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms


• Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds regularly;


• Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment


• Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently to comprehend instructions


• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, dept perception and the ability to adjust focus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:


• This is a full-time position with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week
