As the Student, Data Governance, you will support the Data Governance team in strengthening data management practices across AIMCo. This role provides hands-on experience in data governance, data quality and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with Senior Lead for Data Governance to enhance data governance frameworks, improve data stewardship and support enterprise-wide data initiatives.Responsibilities Include:
  • Assist in maintaining data catalogs and business metadata to enhance data discoverability.

  • Assist with data lineage capture, validation, and visualization in the data governance tool (Atlan). 

  • Support metadata stewardship activities (e.g. ownership, definitions, classifications)

  • Conduct data quality assessments, identify anomalies and support remediation activities.

  • Track data licensing terms and usage to ensure compliance with vendor agreements.

  • Organize and maintain documentation for data contracts and vendor information.

  • Support the development of a market data catalog within Atlan, including building complementary dashboards to help users navigate data availability and licensing.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data governance workflows and adherence to best practices.

  • Support governance initiatives and ad-hoc analysis.

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in related field such as Computer Science, Data Management, Finance and Information Management

  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data governance concepts

  • Proven leadership, problem-solving and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with Excel, Power BI and programming languages such as SQL or Python is an asset

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with stakeholders across different teams

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo's core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, and inspires the same in others

Success Measures:

Your success in the role will be in your ability to complete all tasks and support various projects assigned. You will become familiar with the Data Governance functions and technologies. Collaborate with multiple groups across the organization and build meaningful relationships with experienced professionals across AIMCo.

Note: This is a 4-month, full-time term from May 2026 through August 2026.
