Washington Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist Assistant PRN to join our team

Position Highlights:

  • Provides physical therapy services as directed by the physical therapist and ordered by the physician according to policies and procedures and state/federal regulation.
  • Assists the physical therapist with evaluation of progress toward goals.
  • Observes, records, and reports to the therapist the conditions, reactions and responses related to assigned duties.
  • Maintains daily records of treatments. Documents progress notes regarding patients as directed by the therapist.
  • Report to the Director of Rehabilitation for all aspects of department operations.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for the treatment of residents with noted disorders or deficits within Physical Therapy scope of practice upon receiving physician order and completion of evaluation.
  • Optimize the functionality and skills of patients.
  • Completes all necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with supervising PT developing programs appropriate to the needs of facility residents while fulfilling PTA/PT co-signature and supervision requirements.
  • Attend all required meetings including care planning, staff meetings, family meetings, etc
  • Assist the facility in meeting the standards necessary to obtain state and federal certification while following OBRA Resident Right Guidelines
  • Follow facility infection control policies and procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Operates therapeutic equipment and devices including crutches, walkers, exercise apparatus, canes, iontophoresis, electrical stimulators, traction and heat/cold modalities.
  • Nethealth and PCC electronic documents care and other patient information for medical record including history, treatment, consultations.
  • Complies with department policies/procedures and regulations related to infection control, safety, quality improvement. Practices universal precautions and prevents cross contamination.
  • Communicates with supervisor and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans.
  • Records daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes and discharge summaries timely and completely.
  • Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Instructs, motivates, safeguards and assists patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.
  • Observe patients during treatments to compile and evaluate patients' responses and progress and report to physical therapist.
  • Assists in training and orientation of new staff.
  • Provides treatment according to the treatment plan as prescribed by provider and developed by physical therapist which may include therapeutic exercises, massage and modality treatment.
  • Provides a friendly, safe, timely, quality-driven environment responsive to patients' needs.
  • Assists with equipment maintenance, supply inventory and stocking.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an associate degree from a recognized Physical Therapist Assistant Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Must be licensed in the state in which the assistant will be practicing.
  • Active members of state and national Physical Therapy Associations (Preferred)
  • CPR/BLS Certification (Preferred)
