The Peaks Resort and Spa located in beautiful Telluride, Colorado is looking for a Engineering Technician to join our team providing world class service and an extraordinary experience for our guests.

Summary: Performs a variety of facility maintenance and construction tasks, personally and with the assistance of other employees or sub-contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following.

  • Ensure that physical condition of the property is maintained according to company operating and safety standards.
  • Responsible for the decorum and cleanliness of all grounds and building interiors and exteriors.
  • Responsible for snow control of all parking lots, sidewalks, and balconies as to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors.
  • Handle all maintenance-related resident issues in a timely fashion, while communicating the status to the Engineering Supervisor as well as the residents.
  • Organize and prioritize service requests and general maintenance tasks. Ensure that all service orders are properly documented in accordance with the company's service order procedures.
  • Ensure that vacant units are made rent-ready in a timely manner. Ensure all make-readies are inspected.
  • Must be knowledgeable of inventory levels of spare parts and supplies and inform supervisor of shortages.
  • Maintains the Spa swimming pools. Duties include:
  • o Regularly testing swimming pool water quality and pH balance
  • o Treats swimming pool to maintain proper chemical balance
  • o Ensure the swimming pool is clean and perform schedule cleaning duties
  • o Maintenance as required
  • o May be required to obtain CPO certification
  • Covers Security department as needed
  • Adhere to the company's safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in company training classes, as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This person may be asked to and must be able to be in charge of the Engineering dept. when no other supervisors in Engineering dept. are available. This may be on his/her weekend or on vacation, and handle problems and concerns within the knowledge base and scope of the tech position.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Minimum one year's experience in Facilities Maintenance or a similar trade or building construction related field.

Employee must be capable of operating a variety of equipment relative to this position which shall include, but not limited to, trucks, electric power tools, levels, shovels, picks, masonry equipment, ladders, and other hand and power tools that are needed to complete a certain task in a safe and effective manner. All equipment must be used without jeopardizing the safety of themselves, fellow employees and residents. Appropriate safety equipment and apparel must be worn.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out multistep instructions. Be able to identify complex problems and determine root cause for prevention and repair.

Other Qualifications:

Must be able to diagnose and repair basic problems with, but not limited to, the following:

  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Sheetrock
  • General carpentry
  • Painting
  • Pool care
  • Exterior repairs – gutters, fascia & soffits, paint & maintenance
  • (All major roofing, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC will be completed by licensed, insured contractors.)

Position requires the ability to serve on-call, as scheduled or as necessary including times of inclement weather and state of emergencies.

Equipment: Position requires individuals to furnish their own vehicle when needed for transportation for shift and call in work.

Must have valid Colorado driver's license, and must present the driver's license for verification to HR.

Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as directed.

Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.

Must be able to function effectively in all inclement weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee must be able to work a 40-hour work week. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to traverse on uneven and rough terrain, as well as paved and unpaved trails, use hands and arms to handle and manipulate objects, tools or controls; and operate foot controls on equipment. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. When operating equipment the employee is frequently exposed to bouncing, jostling, twisting and turning of the upper body. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 lbs.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, as well as wet and slippery conditions. While outside the employee is occasionally exposed to direct sunlight, dust, pollen and equipment exhaust fumes. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when around machinery or equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $23.00- $27.00 per hour
