We are seeking an Operations Supervisor to support the Terminal Manager in overseeing evening and night operations, at our terminal located at 263 Edward Street, St. Thomas, Ontario.
This position ensures business continuity in the Manager's absence and contributes to maintaining quality standards for all operational tasks. The Operations Supervisor will need to acquire a thorough understanding of all areas of the site, including transportation, maintenance, and production, while demonstrating leadership and strong teamwork skills with production staff. The supervisor will also participate in operational activities, such as loading and unloading both dry and liquid fertilizer from trucks and railcars, utilizing forklifts and other material handling equipment, and performing minor repairs and routine maintenance as necessary.
YOUR ROLE
You will oversee terminal operations, including the receiving, storage, and loading of dry and liquid fertilizers for import and export.
Supervise a production team to achieve the objectives of the Terminal (team composed of control room operators and day labourers);
Perform the duties of your team's employees as this is a working position and to be able to drive all equipment on site;
Implement the achievement of production objectives through the monitoring of performance indicators;
Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility and equipment;
Coordinate, with the maintenance team, planned maintenance shutdowns;
Verify the maintenance of inventories as well as the quality of the fertilizer;
Manage site inspections and review of plans to address any deficiencies;
Manage fertilizer flow to maximize efficiency and minimize the risk of damage;
Manage fertilizer shipping and receiving processes to consistently meet all truck and rail loading and unloading requirements;
Manage all legislated work program requirements for the site;
Manage the Estimates to ensure that they are consistent with established performance objectives;
Participate in the planning and implementation of processes to create a safe environment;
Collaborate with the logistics team and carriers to coordinate shipments;

YOU FIT THE FOLLOWING PROFILE
You have work-related training and/or significant work experience of at least 3 years in a related role;
You demonstrate a good knowledge of the Office Suite;
You have excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
Due to the nature of the role requiring interactions with national clients, you possess excellent communication skills;
You like to work physically (you will have to lift weights varying between 1 kg and 30 Kg);
You possess a valid driver's license;
You are able to work outdoors in any temperature, at heights, in enclosed spaces and in a dusty environment;
You are available to work overtime during loading and unloading operations to properly supervise these activities;
