Apprentice Diesel Tech-Mechanic

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tractor-trailer repair and maintenance, with experience in uptime management. This role is essential for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet, which includes a variety of vehicles and machinery. The Fleet Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, performing repairs and maintenance on Volvo, Mack, Freightliner & Paccar products.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, including diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, and HVAC systems.
• Conduct diagnostics to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
• Utilize schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems and mechanical components.
• Execute fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, services performed, and parts used.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with team members and drivers regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations while performing maintenance tasks.
• Assist in the assembly and disassembly of equipment as required.

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in fleet repair and maintenance.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and welding techniques.
• Familiarity with vehicle systems including suspension, shocks & struts, brake repair, alignment, tire service, and diesel engine repair.
• Experience working with industrial equipment such as tractor-trailers is required
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for equipment repair tasks.
• Experience in service technician roles or similar positions is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to read schematics effectively.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
