Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South is the preeminent youth development organization in Southeastern Massachusetts, serving more than 2,500 youth annually from infancy to adulthood from nearly 50 zip codes at our Clubhouses in Brockton and Taunton, 100-acre Camp Riverside property, and at several community extension sites across the region. The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for supporting and assisting all daily operations of the nutrition and related food services programs, including the daily preparation, production and service of meals, snacks, and all food service operations. The Nutrition Coordinator reports to the Director of Culinary Operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This list below includes essential function that may or may not be assigned to and individual within this role. They are, however, all areas of focus that fall under the umbrella of this position. These duties do not necessarily constitute a full list of responsibilities.
Nutritional Planning:
- Prepare and implement the menu cycle to achieve maximum efficiency within nutritional guidelines. Seek to incorporate high-level food choices, with focus on culturally and ethnically diverse options, healthy selections, and unique youth focused "fun with food."
- Assist in the daily inventory, organization and procurement of ordering food.
- Assist in the planning and development of menu development.
- In partnership with supervisor, host quarterly listening sessions with targeted Club members to increase member input into meal service.
- Assist with Clubhouse meetings including meal service and food preparation
Food Safety & Compliance:
- Responsible for the daily sanitation and operation of a clean kitchen facility and service stations within Clubhouses.
- Complete necessary preparation of food by following proper sanitation, safety guidelines, regulations and standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Department of Education and Local Board of Health regulations.
- Maintain daily temperature recordings of stored and potentially hazardous foods in compliance with all food safety regulations.
- Provide detailed reports on daily food service patterns, service records, and relevant program information.
- Participate in ongoing trainings and meetings as required by governing agencies and food service partners.
Freight Farm & Partnerships:
- Communication in a timely manner with Freight Farms and community partners to assist in food service operations, where applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED required. Food service degree preferred.
- Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation required.
- ServSafe, CPR & First Aid certified or ability to become certified in timely manner.
- Technological proficiency, including a command of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with using a database to track and extract information.
- Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal) are needed, including the ability to present in front of large groups, interact with and motivate stakeholders, represent the organization at community events and meetings, and write professionally in emails, etc.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (staff, families, youth, etc.) and a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with individuals and teams from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to professionalism including high expectations and standards of quality, a strong work ethic and personal code of ethics, accountability, and dependability.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective objectives for teams and individuals and take ownership for results.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and empowerment.
- Willing to provide leadership daily in a normal eight-hour day and occasional night and weekend hours. This position does not provide for remote work options.
- Certifications: As outlined in BGCMS Training Academy upon hire or within allocated training timelines.
- This position requires a valid driver's license and will require frequent local travel.
