CEIS is seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Manager to lead mechanical startup, testing, and validation activities for a hyperscale data center project in Sparks, Nevada. This role oversees all phases of mechanical commissioningincluding planning, procedure development, field execution, integrated testing, and turnoverto ensure systems meet design intent, performance criteria, and mission-critical reliability standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise across HVAC, hydronic systems, chilled water plants, controls integration, and heavy mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the mechanical commissioning plan, schedule, test scripts, and resource needs in alignment with the project master schedule.
  • Oversee installation readiness for mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring proper documentation, quality, and sequence-of-operations alignment before startup.
  • Coordinate with vendors for factory witness testing, startup support, mechanical troubleshooting, and completion of all commissioning documentation.
  • Review mechanical submittals, P&IDs, equipment schedules, and engineering calculations to confirm commissioning requirements and design intent.
  • Conduct mechanical system walkthroughs, first-in-place reviews, and functional verifications, documenting issues and driving timely resolution.
  • Work with onsite mechanical teams, controls teams, and QA/QC personnel to ensure system performance meets project requirements.
  • Ensure all mechanical commissioning activities comply with OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout protocols, and project-specific safety procedures.
  • Lead mechanical testing activities including flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, functional testing, and integrated system validation.
  • Manage mechanical deficiency logs, track corrective actions, and maintain commissioning documentation for turnover.
  • Coordinate closely with the owners commissioning agent to align expectations, review scripts, and ensure testing feasibility.
  • Provide regular updates on commissioning progress, risks, system readiness, and any impacts to schedule or project milestones.
  • Identify scope gaps or unclear responsibilities and collaborate with internal teams to solidify accountability in support of commissioning execution.
  • Participate in design reviews and offer technical recommendations to support constructability, maintainability, and long-term system performance.
  • Contribute to CEIS mission-critical commissioning standards, lessons learned, and best practices; support additional projects as capacity allows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical experience (minimum 5 years).
  • Prior commissioning or startup experience in mission-critical facilities, data centers, industrial plants, or complex mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, hydronic systems, pumps, heat exchangers, chilled water distribution, CRAC/CRAH units, and mechanical controls integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment schedules, and control sequences.
  • Proficiency with commissioning software (CxAlloy, BIM360, ACC Build) and standard programs such as MS Office, Procore, and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, construction safety practices, and mechanical commissioning standards.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in an active construction environment; must be able to walk, stand, and navigate mechanical spaces for extended periods.
