Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, autism, and other special needs. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a caring environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in home health, assisted living, or long-term care settings, and possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those served. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring personalized support and care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor residents' health status by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition
  • Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA guidelines
  • Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition needs while ensuring safety protocols are followed
  • Provide patient observation and ensure safety during activities and transitions within the facility or community settings
  • Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices; perform heavy lifting as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of residents' living areas and common spaces to promote a safe environment
  • Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies
  • Participate in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs
  • Engage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being and community involvement
  • Follow all safety procedures including CPR and first aid protocols to respond effectively during emergencies

Experience

  • Prior experience working with people with developmental disabilities, dementia, autism, or in assisted living environments preferred
  • Experience in patient care, home health, hospice care, or nursing home settings highly desirable
  • Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and care planning processes required
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards necessary for compliance
  • Hands-on experience with patient observation, Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care, and working with individuals requiring specialized support such as resident's or working with people with disabilities preferred
  • Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided if necessary

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $ $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
