Role Overview:
The Quality Manager will lead the food safety and quality programs, ensuring compliance with SQF, HACCP, FSPCA, and other regulatory standards. This hands-on role manages personnel, oversees production compliance, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate balances strategic oversight with operational execution, thrives in a fast-paced bakery environment, and has strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
.Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years' experience in food manufacturing (bakery preferred) in quality or food safety leadership roles.
- Certified SQF Practitioner, PCQI, FSPCA, HACCP, or equivalent certifications.
- Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor and performing hands-on quality activities.
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring, allergen programs, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong leadership skills, including team coaching, training, and performance management.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and budgets efficiently.
- High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable acting with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Food Safety Programs:
Manage the SQF, HACCP, FSPCA, and internal audit programs across all bakery sites. - Oversee Production Compliance:
Approve raw materials and finished product releases and validate production processes. - Manage Complaint Program:
Track, investigate, and report quality or food safety complaints to management. - Employee Development:
Train, coach, and develop staff; manage disciplinary processes and performance reviews. - Environmental Programs:
Oversee yeast, mold, Listeria, Salmonella, water, and air monitoring programs. - Documentation & Records:
Ensure all food safety, quality, water, and air supply documentation is accurate and audit ready. - Cross-Functional Support:
Collaborate with maintenance, production, and senior management on preventative programs and crisis response. - Continuous Improvement:
Identify gaps, implement corrective actions, and support operational enhancements. - Backup Responsibilities:
Serve as backup HACCP coordinator, FSPCA lead, SQF lead, and internal auditor as needed. - Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
