Your Impact:
The Mechanical Estimator plays a key role in supporting Malach's quoting, costing, and business development activities. This role is responsible for evaluating customer requests for quotation and preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for fabricated metal components, assemblies, and in-house product lines. The Mechanical Estimator directly impacts pricing accuracy, profitability, customer satisfaction, and production planning.

- Work closely with engineering, fabrication, and leadership teams.
- Develop a strong understanding of Malach's manufacturing capabilities and cost drivers. Influence pricing, margins, and production strategy.
- Build technical and commercial expertise in a growing fabrication environment.
- Evaluate requests for quotation by reviewing customer drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Perform material take-offs and develop bills of material. Identify make-versus-buy decisions and subcontract requirements.
- Develop labour estimates by identifying required manufacturing operations, inspections, and routing steps.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to validate assumptions, methods, and cycle times.
- Prepare clear and accurate cost breakdowns that support competitive and profitable quotes. Maintain estimating documentation and assumptions for reference and review.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of metal fabrication processes including laser cutting, shearing, punching, forming, machining, welding, finishing, and assembly.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks is an asset.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; JobBOSS ERP experience is an asset.
- Strong planning, organization, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
- One or more years of estimating experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Class 5 driver's license preferred.
- Full-time, permanent position. Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
- On-site role at the Oak Bluff, MB facility.
