NRK Design Studio is a boutique high-end interior design firm based in Northern California. We specialize in high-end residential and boutique-style commercial projects, with a strong focus on creating curated, concept-driven spaces. We collaborate closely with architects, contractors, vendors, and artisans to deliver exceptional projects that reflect thoughtful detailing, refined materiality, and a seamless design process.

As our studio continues to grow, we are seeking a
Senior Interior Designer
with strong residential design experience, deep FF&E knowledge, and the confidence to work on projects from concept through completion.

Position Overview

This is a hybrid role; project needs determine in-person meetings at our studio or project sites.

The Senior Interior Designer will lead residential projects from concept through completion in collaboration with the Principal Designer and team members. This hands-on role requires strong design leadership, team coordination, and expertise in construction documentation and detailing.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Project Responsibilities

  • Lead residential projects from concept through construction documentation in collaboration with the design team.
  • Develop design concepts, space planning, finish palettes, and detailed drawings.
  • Prepare and review drawings, presentations, specifications, and technical packages.
  • Conduct site visits and coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
  • Support and mentor junior designers as needed.

FF&E, Materials & Procurement

  • Manage the full FF&E scope, including sourcing, budgeting, specifications, and procurement.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of furniture, lighting, textiles, finishes, and custom fabrication.
  • Build and maintain material and finishes libraries throughout the project progress.
  • Coordinate purchase orders, lead times, samples, and installation logistics.

Client & Vendor Communication

  • Lead client meetings and present design concepts and selections in alignment with the Principal Designer.
  • Communicate effectively with showrooms, manufacturers, fabricators, and artisans.
  • Ensure design decisions align with project budgets, timelines, and quality standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Senior-level interior design experience
    , with a
    minimum of 5 years in residential design
    and the ability to lead projects independently.
  • Bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture preferred.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, design development, material selection, FF&E, and procurement.
  • Proficiency in
    Revit
    required; knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Strong understanding of
    California residential building codes
    , construction coordination, and detailing.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and able to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Strong design sensibility aligned with
    NRK Design Studio's aesthetic and values

  • Excellent knowledge of construction documents and detailing, with the ability to review and markup final drawing packages.
